Method
Cut the beef into 1 inch cubes.
Slice the onion
Coat the beef (veal) in flour. Brown in a little of the butter in a saucepan. Remove meat.
Add remaining 2 tablespoons butter and onion to saucepan. Saute until golden.
Add veal, tomatoes with liquid, beer, and seasonings. Cover and simmer 1 hour.
Season with salt and pepper to your taste.
Moisten gingersnaps with a little water; crush. Stir into meat. Simmer 5
minutes more. Add lemon juice; mix well.
To serve
Serve over
rice,
or with pasta,
or with a few FAIRTRADE potatoes.
The traditional dish would be accompanied by potatoes.
Variation
Other red meats can be substituted for the beef.
